Wills and Probate
Bart-Williams & Co’s expert solicitors have a vast amount of experience of dealing with:
Financial Planning
We plan ahead in so many areas of our lives – whether planning a family, a career or the next holiday. It’s important to also plan ahead to leave a legacy of our homes and finances as well as planning for a time when we may not be able to make decisions for ourselves.
This could happen at any time to any of us, don’t wait to reach old age or infirmity as unfortunately we can’t predict when death or loss of capacity might occur.
Every adult should have a Will and a Lasting Power of Attorney to ensure they and their family are protected in the future. Yet 70% of the population have not put these important documents in place.
We understand the many reasons why you may not have yet planned for the future. Now you have begun to consider your future planning we make sure that there are no obstacles to completing the process.
We will ensure that:
We will be available and approachable
We won’t use legal jargon
We will provide a fast and straightforward service
Our service will meet your individual needs and circumstances
The price is value for money
Wills
There are many reasons to make a Will. Our specialist Will Service makes writing a Will easy and affordable:
Choose your executors
Appoint guardians for your children
Make gifts to family and friends
Inheritance tax planning
Create trusts to protect vulnerable relatives
Set out your funeral wishes
Give to charity
Avoid family disputes
Give personal belongings or jewellery
Why should you make a Will?
To die without making a will is called “intestacy”. If this happens, strict legal rules apply which decides the distribution of your property. Often this may not reflect how you would like things done.
If you are married and have children, for instance, financial limits apply on how much your husband or wife can receive. It could mean that they retain the family home, but do not receive sufficient funds to afford to live there.
If you are unmarried and have a partner the intestacy rules will not recognise that partnership.
How much would making a Will cost?
Whether you want to make a Will from scratch or use our services, we can provide a range of fixed fee options to suit your needs.
